- PACKERS LOCK DOWN LB CLAY MATTHEWS WITH NEW LONG-TERM DEAL

- Linebacker Clay Matthews has agreed to and signed a new long-term contract with the Green Bay Packers, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports. Matthews later confirmed the report via Twitter

“Trivial amongst the recent tragic news, but happy to continue my career in Green Bay,” Matthews tweeted.

According to Rapoport, Matthews deal is expected to pay the five-year veteran around $13 million per season.

The Packers have also been negotiating with quarterback Aaron Rodgers on a long-term deal. We expect that do be complete before next weeks draft. Rodgers deal is expected to make him the highest paid player in the league. (Photo: USA Today Sports)
